CHURCH YOUNG AND RADIANT: WYD SYDNEY
After Paris in 1997, Rome 2000, Toronto in 2002, Cologne in 2005 for three years, hundreds of thousands of young Catholics around the world prepared the World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney Australia. For two years, driven by groups of young brave and enthusiastic, the WYD Cross, entrusted by Pope John Paul II in 1984, paved the way across Africa, Asia and Australia.
Braving every challenge - distances, languages, fatigue and travel costs - the "morning watchmen" were started up in early July. Thousands of enthusiastic groups were first meeting of young Catholics in Asia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia to find all July 15 in Sydney where they were met young Australians. It was a warm meeting of 350,000 young people among whom 30,000 were not recorded from China, Vietnam, Africa and the Pacific Islands through the generosity of churches and Western Australia. After 25 hours of flight, the plane landed Benedict XVI: WYD not without the presence of the pope, the symbol and guarantor of unity.
From day one, preceded by colorful native dances, a grand Eucharistic ceremony, on which floated the flags of 200 nations, was celebrated in the bay lit by a beautiful sunset. From Manila, had not ever WYD held so close to Asia. Also, all the young churches of the continent they had sent large delegations to Sydney. Inspired by the words of Jesus, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit and you will be my witnesses," the weekly program was bold and varied in this city of joy: catechesis led by hundreds of bishops, long hours confessions and celebrations with thousands of young priests who came with them, etc. festivities. Wonderful mix of faces and languages worldwide. Ubiquitous, Pope Benedict XVI was always hailed as the guarantor of the unity of the Church and the reference point in a chaotic world. Moving with incredible ease festive moments of contemplation, prayer and worship of Christ, these young people have understood very well that unity and brotherhood belong to the essence of the Church. TVs around the world showed pictures and most of Belgian newspapers have spoken: "But what a tour de force for the entire chain Vers l'Avenir of keeping its readers in ignorance of an event of such international scope! Not a word! It seems that anti-Christian wind blows in your lane "(a reader of Namur, rejected by this newspaper).
"I still see and heart this extraordinary experience in which I was able to meet the young face of the Church," said the Pope in Rome on 27-07, to Angelus. It was like a multicolored mosaic, composed of boys and girls from all over the world, all united by one faith in Jesus Christ ".
Some figures: 350,000 young people, even if the Australians were in half, there were 200 nations represented, including 54,000 Europeans (4,500 French and 460 Belgians); thirty cardinals and 400 bishops.
Great event in the world need faith and friendship of young Catholics in Sydney 2008 clearly demonstrated the need and benefit of the huge investment WYD lead to an extraordinary worldwide revival of the Church of Christ. On Sunday, July 20, during his homily at the solemn Eucharistic before announcing the next WYD in Madrid in 2011, the Holy Father said the World Days "contribute greatly to building a new world: an endless round of applause greeted these words. "Youth Jean Paul" has become "youth Benedict XVI, who raises wheat in the Church of Christ.

II. GOOD NEWS
Blessed Father Damien's canonization next
of Blessed Father Damien, the apostle of lepers, was enacted, even if the date is still unknown. Yves Leterme said that "it was a great honor for our country." But Karel De Gucht has refused "to Belgium enhanced through this new saint: 'it is not possible in the name of separation of church and state,' he said! "Mr. De Gucht he would adopt the same attitude if it were a secular activist getting a Nobel Prize? "Asks rightly La Libre Belgique (04-07-08). Is known that a statue of Father Damien (though a stranger) is long in Parliament in Washington? Dare we reject the request of two senators hope that Flemish is erected a statue of the saint in a corridor of Belgian Belgian Senate? ...

Immediately, William acknowledged that this was what he wanted to live, even though it was very difficult to break free of his drug. He can do with the confession: "I am a convert to the faith. It's amazing what I got it! "He admits. It is by attending the first Mass after his meeting with a priest he finds peace for the first time. He is now president of the Association Veritatis Splendor, which aims to nurture the faith of young people intellectually, Angers (from FC 04-08-07).
Case Fourniret
To evoke the power of prayer, let us briefly (cf. EV No. 67 and No. 4 p. 69 p. 10) in the case of Marie-Ascension, kidnapped by Fourniret in 2003 and before getting into the truck of his kidnapper, had invoked the Virgin Mary: "Mary, passes it would not happen nothing. " The girl was heard after crossing Beauraing, when she felt the rope that blocked his feet relaxed. "So I cleared without too much trouble and I could undo my teeth with lace surrounding my wrists." That's the testimony given recently before the Assize Court of Charleville Marie-Ascension, rosary wrist.

This movement has seen its statutes approved by the Vatican and has 900,000 members in 5 Continents, 40,000 communities, 70 seminars "Redemptoris Mater" (one in Namur).
Bioethics : Some successes ►
"Abstinence is not a burden but an opportunity" is what we said a young Belgian couple, Sophie and Dominique de Hemptinne. The natural regulation of births is as effective as hormonal contraceptives, while avoiding the physiological, psychological and moral means of artificial contraception is a matter of harmony between soul and body. The natural regulation "is used to find the beauty of desire, which is a value in itself, almost more important than the gratification of desire" (The Last Hour, 24-10-2003). ► The
return of the towers babies ": places where you can anonymously leave a baby who is then entrusted to foster parents while awaiting adoption. The biological mother shall have to return her child. Although abandoning babies is a bad thing, these boxes represent the lesser evil, avoiding mothers to resort to abortion is murder, with wild abandon, to infanticide and abuse.
Euthanasia: finally reactions!
► A map of dignity in end of life (1 million already in France) are now in Belgium, to slip in the portfolio as a map of the blood group. It allows to express the will of the card holder on end of life: rejection of euthanasia, palliative care use and refusal of aggressive treatment. ► courageous stance of Cardinal Danneels in his homily at the Easter Vigil on March 22 last: it denounced the laudatory tone of the media regarding the decision of Hugo Claus to end his days. Obviously the media did not miss the hammer ...
► Ghyns Michel, a philosopher at UCL (in LB 04/06/2008) states that euthanasia is a murder, is against the Hippocratic oath (always sworn by medical students). Decriminalization does not open under certain conditions a right to euthanasia: "No person may require a physician or institution that her request for euthanasia is satisfied." He also fears another pernicious form of social inequality between those who can afford a support palliative care and those who will be cornered, because of extreme poverty and loneliness, euthanasia.
40th anniversary of Humanae Vitae (25-7-1968) "A sign of contradiction"
Just published just after May 68!, The encyclical aroused unprecedented opposition within the Church Catholic herself. "Rarely in recent history of the Magisterium as a text is now a sign of contradiction that this encyclical (Cardinal Ratzinger). Despite the opposition of 51 members from 67 of the Advisory Commission, the pope, who was a real Calvary, did not change its position. Maurice Clavel is one of the few who dared to write: "The Pope struck a huge blow history. It felt it was a euphoric world cracking. It takes time for the distant future, maybe not so much ... "(Nouvel Observateur 5-8-1968). "The fatal spiral of contraception and abortion is true across the globe. Colombia has the camera zoom into the face of Ingrid Betancourt raised, eyes closed. Images broadcast live worldwide, including RTL / France 2 and ITV. III. THE DEWBERRY that suffocate us
While the Sower has always generously sown its seeds, it might be feared, now in the West at the time of harvest, a harvest rather mediocre. Revisit this rich parable of the sower, where Jesus compares the seed of the Word of God and the land to four different behaviors. The men of the first category does not include the Word and those of the second lack depth to retain it. It is probably in the third category that we find ourselves, which we are immersed in the consumer society. Certainly we have heard and even hosted the Word, but our lifestyle might like brambles, strangle our spiritual growth. The Gospel Mark (4:18-19) explains why: "The cares of the world, the deceitfulness of riches and lusts multiple choke the word and make it sterile."
economy "global" was chosen as a key driver: the temptation. Everything is commodified and gradually, with a thousand temptations offered to our lusts, cons money. Unfortunately, it is a mirage for most people, whose incomes are increasingly cramped! Our existential hiding empty, news, commercials, entertainment fill our idle time, in a dizzying carousel of sounds and images, we suggest that we are "as gods" dignified access to all the pleasures in instantaneous interaction with the planet. To better hold us in their nets, at home or in public places, were diabolically in league: radio, television, cinema, internet, mobile phones and other electronic whatnot.
In 1930, back in the United States, Georges Duhamel already warned us in his masterful book, Scenes of a future life: "We support these impudent traffickers who defile anything that might sully the world, we treating it as a stupid herd with these sounds hateful, shameless these lights, these intrusions ... I affirm that a people bewildered by fugitive pleasures, epidermal, will be some day unable to rise, however little it may be, by the energy of thought. "
To enjoy and deepen the Word sown, the men of the fourth category require good soil, that is to say, silence outside and inside. Fleeing Rome in decline, St. Benedict, to seek God, wanted for the living in monasteries in the hills, isolated valleys where nature can elevate the soul (here: Soleilmont, Val-Dieu, Orval, Rochefort , Groenendaal, etc..). St. Bernard said: "The trees and rocks that can teach you teach any master. "
the 21st century, it is vital that we develop in our house, a small area of peace and timed to give appointment to the Lord. We must swim against the tide and take our distance vis-à-vis modern brambles prevent us in tune with the only Living Word. Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, said: "I am silent, I listen." Jesus himself was accustomed to withdraw away to join his father intensely. Each
"dead time", each time waiting in the day at home or outside, should be exploited in an attempt to create a quiet interior, conducive to meditation. Rather than be drawn into a truly hellish pace (for example, working on Sunday to earn more, through all our evenings on the Internet, etc..), Our work carefully ground for the seed germinates What God gives and much fruit.

UCL or UL?
On January 29, 2008 seemed a debate in the Libre Belgique: should keep the "C" of the UCL? Paul Lowenthal, former Chairman of Interdiocesan lay advocates think about what the "C" means. "It is not enough to put a 'C', we must know what that means! Very little, it must be confessed. " As for Pr Lorant, he advocated the abolition of the "C", finding that the denomination is increasingly outdated and weird that this deletion would have a strategic advantage and would be a message to partners mean that "the University of Louvain has turned page regarding the link with the Church. "
Catholics and secularism in Belgium
(from The Cross of 25-07 and 21-07-08). There are today in fact, a "secular alliance in Belgium between Catholics and secularism that denies all dogma. Action Center secular (CAL) is at the Free University of Brussels (the "University of free inquiry," probably the only one in the world to be based on Free Thought). Its official song always ends with these words: "Rome trembles and falters before the Truth we group them around her against the papacy" ... A 2002 law supports secularism as the churches, "euthanasia, abortion are acquired, they must maintain," said one official. But there is currently wide compromise. Cardinal Danneels, though Chancellor of the Catholic University of Leuven, takes no position on embryos that traffic and there is even received by the grandmaster of the Grand Orient of Belgium.
Derivatives in the Church of Belgium
► Found at the bottom of a church in the diocese of Namur, a packet of photocopies faithfully reproduce the attacks against the Holy Father ... ►
In the official journal of a French diocese, with a preface by the bishop, one can read a file on the "Eucharist, gift of God." This is not trivializing this will restore the sense of the sacred! ►
dispersion of the ashes of a priest! Many Catholics were shocked to read the announcement of the death of a parish priest in the diocese of Namur: it was written after the Liturgy of the Eucharist "the scattering of ashes will take place in private." It was the will of the deceased ... ► A canon against the pope Catholic? In
Towards the Future has published a paper on June 21 that makes noise, titled "Meditation" and signed a canon of Namur, which were led to believe - it is not, of course - that the cathedral chapter was opposed to Benedict XVI! He compared the pope to "engineer fool" produce cars with more speed "reverse" to the Church walk backwards, and he treats it as a "shepherd timid" about communion suggested on language and knees (and yet Peguy spoke of "beautiful kneeling right of a free man!") and Latin in the liturgy. Here are some excerpts of the many reactions of lay people who have condemned the remarks as unworthy of Readers' Into the future: "Imagine that the sales manager of an industrial society starts to proclaim that the CEO is a bit cheesy, The new product is not marketable ... This man would be dismissed immediately. Frankly, that's what you deserve. You're lucky I'm not your CEO. " [Rejected by Vers l'Avenir]
A layman of the Province of Namur
"That a Catholic who presents himself as 'faithful priest and largely traditional Roman Catholic Church' (!) And in addition highlights the title of canon (though just Honorary), that is surprising, surprised, shocked and deeply shocking the layman that I am practicing. To believe that the author did not even read the documents on the liturgy. For nowhere, for example, there is an obligation to communicate to its knees. In the Instruction of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship (19-03-2004), reads: 'The faithful receive Communion kneeling or on the tongue, as may be determined by the Conference of Bishops, with the confirmation of Headquarters apostolic '(No. 90). Many are unaware that if the Church wishes - without imposing - Communion on the tongue, it is only through fear that the Host falling to the ground ... or even, for fear of desecration '(No. 92) because it would be swept away in a perverse goal (the hosts for the' black masses' sell very expensive ...). As for the 'Rehabilitation of Latin liturgy', Vatican II did not impose, but wishes to maintain, while also recognizing that the use of language can often be very useful for the people. The canon would he therefore opposed to Vatican II? ... And Benedict XVI himself, thinking of the great International Eucharistic so frequent, is that good, apart from the readings, the homily and the prayer of the faithful of them, are celebrated in Latin, 'to demonstrate the universality of the Church, but it does not require (Post-Synodal Exhortation The Sacrament of Love, No. 62). Lay people expect priests, not denigration, but encouragements to fidelity. " A layman

NB Has anyone noticed this outrageous breach of professional ethics that VLA doctored by deleting the letter (deliberately?) 4 underlined words above: a shameful falsification that the pope told exactly the opposite of what he wrote, making us believe that Benedict XVI would have liked in the International Eucharistic we do the homily in Latin, and the universal prayer! Two written requests for correction were not followed ... So this is how this newspaper misinforming its readers with blows of lies ... ►

The Anglican Church on the edge of schism? After ordination
women to the priesthood (1994), remarriage of divorced clergy homosexuality, the ordination of here "women bishops" in the Anglican Church (77 million followers worldwide). Recall that, according to tradition, women "ordained" are not priests at all, despite the term 'women priests' ordination is ipso facto invalid, and if they ordain priests, men or women, these ordinations are obviously also invalid, and if some become bishops, they are neither priests nor bishops! It began in Canada in 2003 with the election of a Bishop "gay, married, divorced, practicing homosexual. Then
Episcopalians have placed at their head a "bishop" to top it all, we just married a solemn priest of the clergy of Westminster Abbey with a priest in New Zealand!
The Lambeth Conference in July 2008 was narrowly averted the schism, but the cracks remain inside: a majority voted for the ordination of "women bishops, archbishops and 300 bishops, but conservatives (especially in Africa and Australia) have refused to attend. Especially Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali says the vacuum created by the collapse of Christian culture may be filled by Muslim radicalism, and he blames the Christians not to attempt to convert Muslims to Christianity. These dissenting bishops representing 35 million adherents, want to create a "Church within the Church" with its own clergy, challenging the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury and formed a new communion, and some would even come to Rome to a possible reconciliation. One thousand priests have threatened to leave their church if women were ordained bishops.
In Rome, we regret the decisions of Lambeth, because it is a new tear in the apostolic tradition maintained by all churches of the first millennium and a new obstacle, added full twenty-first century, reconciliation between the two Churches. Three Catholic cardinals have nevertheless been invited to present the views of Rome in Lambeth. For Cardinal Kasper, president of the Council for Christian Unity, "the ordination of women to the episcopate blocks substantially and permanently any possibility that the Catholic Church recognize Anglican Orders. Full communion has taken a step backwards . And Cardinal Ivan Diaz, former Archbishop of Bombay, is not dead hand. He spoke of a "spiritual Alzheimer's" Forgetting legacies of the past in a disorderly walk "without cooperation between the head and other members of the community" is an "ecclesial Parkinson's" which are victims of Churches "myopic in a fleeting present. " Christians must witness the beauty of their faith "without shame or complex."
Lord directs your steps to the ruins without end, the enemy sanctuary in the rampage, the locations of your meetings, the adversary roared ... They said "Let's destroy everything! . They burned the country's holy places of meetings ... God, how long the enemy blaspheme? ... Do not let the beast kill your Dove ... Arise, God, defend your cause! "
(Psalm 73 [Hebrew 74] 3-4, 8, 10, 19, 22).
V. C ourrierdeslecteurs
The issuance of the RTBF 04/09/2008 on the financing of religious organizations has raised many reactions, mostly in Vers l'Avenir. Here is a summary.
Whence the intervention of the state in charge of Catholic worship? After 1789, the State and the revolutionaries sold the property they had confiscated or stolen from the church and the land where they had burned abbeys. By the Concordat of 1801, we made an agreement to return these "national assets" ("black goods") form of subsidies to factories and treatment of church clergy. It is therefore not by a return of capital, but an annuity, which is not the number of practitioners. The financial state is a further justification in social assistance provided by the clergy. The Catholic Church was the only one to have been robbed of their own property, while neither the Jews nor Orthodox, nor Islam nor laymen have known this. To those who question the contribution of citizens who do not attend church, one could argue it's the same for all those who contribute through their tax-subsidized activities which they never take part: logically, the State should no longer fund sports activities, museums, day care, the National Theatre, ETC. pretext that it does not affect all citizens. That is also some opportunity to denounce the fortune amassed by the Church. This refrain seems to erase the immense work of charity to which was hitched (only!) Church, in the absence of CPAS and Social Security! The list of works would be long: for example, 2,000 leprosy in Europe, in addition to education and care of the poor.
