PARIS, October 16, 2008 (AFP) - The movement of Corinne Lepage Cap 21 has claimed on Thursday a parliamentary commission of inquiry "about the real state of preparedness of our country on the operational plan" for a possible avian flu pandemic.
The organization responsible for managing stocks of medicines to counter a possible bird flu pandemic is no longer a director since June, according to reports in the daily Le Parisien. Professor Didier Houssin, interministerial delegate for the fight against bird flu has told AFP that a new director would be appointed to "advance this issue." "The interview with the prefect Boubé Bernard, former director of the EPRUS (Establishment of Preparation and Response to Health Emergencies) in Paris reveals significant deficiencies in the management of drug stocks and masks, because of their dispersion in care facilities and the lack of monitoring on the risk of expiration or termination of the cold chain, "the statement said Cap." 21 On such a fundamental issue, Cap 21 (...) calls for the creation of a commission of parliamentary inquiry in order to make an inventory comprehensive and transparent of the readiness of France, "the statement added.

Questions: Is it threatened by an outbreak of bird flu? Why is there no director in place for anti-bird flu? Has it something to do with avian flu vaccinations in the U.S.? Why is there no follow up? Why are there deficiencies? The government does not care about us?
